Dance DJs and musicians Eli & Fur have been blazing their own trail in the dance scene for more than 10 years now, taking their in-demand mix of EDM, techno and house music around the world. The duo have been based in LA for the past five years, but they have been friends since school in the UK. Having moved in together after university, they began DJ’ing at friends’ parties. It was when Eli got a job working at the Xenomania songwriting and production label, an executive saw the website for their nascent DJ project, and offered them a small deal. Soon they were in writing sessions, creating hook-laden songs for acts such as Girls Aloud, The Saturdays and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. At the time, they were also absorbing influences from the kind of clubs and raves they’d attend such as Heaven and Basing House, soaking up the atmosphere, becoming attuned to the ineffable ways that song beats and melodies could have an effect on different audiences. With the release of “You’re So High”, the duo had written a song that was their lodestar in terms of musical vision, and kick-started the path to the music they make now.
