For me, Oasis didn’t begin in 1994 with the release of their first album Definitely Maybe. They began in 2002. I was 11 years old, watching the England football team crash out of the World Cup in slow motion. David Beckham’s blonde fin floated across the screen to the sound of Oasis’ lullaby-esque “Stop Crying Your Heart Out”. I don’t know why I was so affected — I’m Irish. At the time, I also didn’t know much about the band behind the song, but I knew that I wanted in. This was my band now.
