Long before Amanda Connock launched her eponymous fragrance and body care brand, she was a child lining up tiny brown bottles on her dad’s desk and making floral waters in the garden. With Connock England, she’s turned this into a business built on craftsmanship, quality and integrity. Amanda: “I’ve always said my love of fragrance started with my father, but actually, my mum was right there too. She had five children and still helped to run the family business, A&E Connock. So fragrance has been part of my life from the very beginning. It’s in my heritage." FROM WHEN I WAS TINY, I remember going into my dad’s home office, where his desk was covered in little brown bottles of fragrance oils. I’d line them up and smell each one. I was fascinated. I can still remember exactly how they all smelled — it’s amazing how closely fragrance is linked with memory. My parents both loved gardening, and so we were always outside: no screens, just nature. The scent of cut grass, sweet peas (Dad was obsessed), herbs and flowers are such a strong memory, and it’s where my love of the countryside began.
